Hugh Campbell crosses the line

This year’s Isle of Skye Half Marathon proved to be a great success with a record number running in both the Half Marathon (308) and Fun Run (121). It was also a great year for Skye runners, as for the first time in the event’s 27 year history a Skye male won the race. Hugh Campbell won a closely contended race, running on behalf of local charity ‘Lucky 2 be here’, crossing the finishing line just over a minute ahead of the field in a time of 1:12.06. This was also an all time Isle of Skye Half Marathon record for a Skye runner. The conditions for the day were excellent and remaining dry with some good spells of sunshine towards the end.

The race organisers would like to thank our sponsors Daviot Farms for supporting the event, as well as the following local businesses who contributed to the hospitality: Aros, The Granary, MacKenzie’s Bakery, Portree Hotel, The Bosville Hotel, The Royal Hotel, The Caley Hotel and the Tongadale Hotel. A special thank you also goes to all the volunteers who helped out as stewards and with the catering without which the event would not be possible. Next year’s race will be on Saturday 11th June.
