Start & Finish

The start and finish will be from/at the Portree High School Community Facility. This facility will provide registration, late entries, changing, lockers, showers, free swim, sauna & steam room, café area for runner hospitality, and venue for prize giving, parking, start/finish and a route of 13.1 miles as opposed to the original route of 13.8 miles.

If you are able to bring any food donations for the after-race hospitality, please bring them during the registration times.

These records are taken from the original route. The records have been adjusted to take into account the new course and target records set at 1:07:18 for male and 1:18:10 for female. See prizes section below.

The event is a 13.1m single loop road race, very undulating with a steady climb from the 8-11 mile marks and then dropping back into Portree for the finish. The route is marked at every mile and marshalled at all road junctions.

Skye Marathon

Once again we will be organising a Fun Run, which will start at 10.35am.This will be a 2-4km race with entries on the day. Entry fees are £2 Over-16’s, £1 Under-16, £1 Adults accompanying a child under 8. The Fun Run entry/registration will take place at the Portree High School Community Facility between 8.30 and 10.00am on the Saturday morning.

REGISTRATION – HALF MARATHON

Each runner must register with the organisers before the race. Pre entries will be issued with a registration card, which must be used when registering.

Registration will take place on the Friday evening and on the Saturday morning at the Portree High School Community Facility via Dunvegan Road entry. If possible, registration on the Friday evening would be preferable.

Registration times are as follows: Friday 11th June 7.30 – 10.00pm, Saturday 12th June 8.30 – 10.00am.

START/FINISH

The start/finish line will be outside the Portree High School Community Facility. The race will start at 10.30am prompt (Fun Run 10.35am), please be at the start Area in good time.

CHANGING FACILITIES

Male & Female changing and shower facilities will be in the Portree High School Community Facility.

WATER STATIONS / FIRST AID

Water stations will be at 3, 5, 7, 10 and 12 mile marks approximately and are shown on the Race Map. First aid cover will be available, with good vehicle back up cover for anyone unable to complete the race.

PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION

Runners must keep to the right hand side of the road unless otherwise directed. All runners must wear their race number on the front of their vest. Please use four safety pins (spare pins available at registration) to The Fun Runassist in identification of number at the finish line. On the reverse of the number there is provision for participant emergency contact and medical details.

EVENING CEILIDH

8.30pm at Portree Community Centre in aid of Budhmor House Care home.

PARKING

If staying within walking distance from the Portree High School Community Facility, please leave The one mile markyour car at home, this will leave adequate parking for those that require it. For those requiring parking this is available at Howdens Joinery or in Portree town centre car parks. Note that the High School car park will be closed on the day.

FREE SWIM / SAUNA / STEAM ROOM

All competitors of the half marathon and Fun Run are allowed a free swim between 12 noon and 4pm on Saturday 12th June. Race number must be shown at reception desk as proof of entry. The new pool is now situated at the Portree High School Community Facility.

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES

This will take place at 1.30pm approximately in the venue of the Portree High School Community Facility. This will also include the Fun Run presentation.

Adjusted course record targets are 1:07:18 for male and 1:18:10 for female.There will be a prize pot of £500 for the first person to break these targets. If one record is broken the individual gets the £500 and if both are broken it is shared £250 each.
